From The Cincinnati Enquirer The uproar that drove a record crowd to protest at a recent Kings school board meeting was followed Wednesday by a lawsuit accusing the board majority of breaking Ohio open meeting laws.
The lawsuit obtained exclusively by The Enquirer reveals accusations against three members of the Kings Board of Education, claiming they voted improperly during a "special meeting" to hire an interim superintendent.
Moreover, the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday by a Kings' school parent in Warren County Common Pleas Court, claims the unexpected board vote was conducted without proper public notice for such a meeting and in violation of Ohio's sunshine laws regarding elected boards and their public meetings.
"I am taking this action to force this board to operate in a legal and transparent manner, to put an end to the seeming collusion of several board members and to stop majority members from blindsiding others to push through what appears to be personal or political agendas," Valerie Naughton, mother of five students in the Warren County school system, told The Enquirer.
